The HORIBA Group, made up of 49 companies in 27 countries, is a leading company that provides analytical and measurement systems throughout the world.
Our business is evolving in the markets of automotive testing, process and environmental instruments, medical diagnostics, semiconductor instruments and scientific instruments. We have displayed our strength in the global market, especially in the fields of automotive emissions and stack-gas measurement, air pollution, water pollution monitoring, quality control in various industries, and clinical diagnosis, achieving dramatic growth over the past few years. It is our continual source of joy and pride that our analytical and measurement business can contribute to global environmental conservation, safety and health, and moreover to improving energy problems. I believe that it is this pride which fuels our ability to provide competitive products.
Our corporate motto is “Omoshiro Okashiku” - Joy and Fun. Possessing pride and a spirit of challenge in the work to which the most dynamic period of our lives is devoted, and tackling it with excitement, makes for a more satisfying life. We have incorporated the desire to spend our days with more Joy and Fun into our company precept, in the spirit that has been handed down since the company was founded. The source of our growth is that the approximately 8,000 HORIBARIANs around the globe (so named because we consider the employees of the HORIBA group as the same family) well understand the philosophy of the company’s “Omoshiro Okashiku” - Joy and Fun precept and put it into practice on a daily basis.
Launched in 2014 with a mission of making HORIBA strong by encouraging diverse characters and talents to shine and to create new value like a colorful, shiny piece of stained glass, the HORIBA Stained Glass Project supports work-style reform and promotes activities to diversify HORIBA’s personnel, the foundation of management. We believe that over time, such activities will drive HORIBA’s sustainable growth.
The United Nations formulated the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which it currently advocates, in 2015. These goals mention a variety of social issues, and I believe that finding the solutions to many of these issues will start with measurement.
Fortunately, customers have described HORIBA as a “partner,” rather than as a “supplier” these days. Making use of various analytical methods and core measurement technologies, such as automotive exhaust gas analyzers and monitoring systems for wastewater produced in factories, we are offering products that provide assistance in resolving social issues. In other words, I believe that providing high-quality “Measurement Technologies” as a true partner to our customers is precisely how we will contribute to society moving forward. We will fulfill our social responsibilities by always behaving out of consideration for how we can activate society through business growth.
